Welcome to Forming the Catechetical Spirit Online!
Since the first Forming the Catechetical Spirit group took place in 2009, more than 300 catechists have earned their certification close to home through a FtCS program facilitated by local catechetical leaders!

The best way to experience FtCS is by participating in a local FtCS parish-based program. The opportunity to come together to pray, study, and share ideas while engaged in a formative process is enriching, energizing, and community-building.

For those who are unable to attend a FtCS parish-based program, Forming the Catechetical Spirit Online provides an alternative to achieve the BASIC certification you need as a catechist through online study and individual formation.

May God bless you as you embark on this exciting journey of Forming the Catechetical Spirit Online!

"Having completed the online program "Forming the Catechetical Spirit", I feel renewed in my faith and am energized to share our Catholic traditions and beliefs with the youth in our archdiocese. The program enabled me to revisit my Catholic roots, to re-familiarize myself with the core concepts and beliefs of our faith, and to feel empowered to share my knowledge of what we, as Catholics, believe. This program covers an assortment of important topics such as the history of the Catholic Church, the origins of the Bible, and the opportunity to pause and reflect on what it is you believe and how you can share our faith with others in a meaningful and impactful way. Thanks to this program, I look forward to bringing engagement, energy, and a faith-filled focus to the youth that I serve!"  ~ Heather
I heard about the Viator ad Deum medal through the Scouting organization, which led me to FtCS in order to earn the medal.  I found this program to be very enriching of my Catholic faith! As a cradle catholic, I learned a lot more about many aspects of our Catholic Faith that I had only had a basic sense of before. Through this program, I learned how to be a better Scout leader of Catholic Scouting Emblems. I also learned much that could help me to become a catechism teacher someday. This course was quite manageable and enjoyable. Just reserve an hour or two every Sunday afternoon to log in and complete a portion of the online exercises. You will come to know your faith and feel stronger and more devoted to the Holy Trinity and the Catholic Church. You will understand our faith better and feel more confident on your ability to profess and teach our Catholic Faith. ~Steve
